There are many types of tiles and much of the decision in choosing one comes down to style an budget. Large (600mmx600mm) floor tiles are popular as they reduce the grout lines, make rooms look larger, and are reasonably priced.
If you are looking for a little more ‘wow factor’ rectified tiles with thin epoxy grout can look stunning though it does cost more. High gloss floor look nice, however, these are harder to keep clean and are not suitable for wet areas as they become slippery. If you are having difficulty deciding on a design or style give us call and we can talk through the what choices are available. We can also help you look at options and ensure you chose the right style for your project.
Consder smaller sized tile for a small bathroom and although this can sometimes work, smaller tiles create more grout lines and can look cluttered. You should also try to avoid busy designs.
Waterproofing is needed where there’s a water outlet i.e. the shower recess, bath, taps and drains. Your shower recess will need waterproofing to a height of at least 1800mm or 100mm above the shower head. How far you extend the waterproofing on the floor depends on the type of flooring and whether you are using a pre-moulded base, if the shower recess is enclosed and what your floor is made of.
